Mind Field, directed by Greg Hunt and released in 2009, is Alien Workshop’s most cinematic video: beautifully shot, patiently edited and packed with some of the best parts of the decade.
Dylan Rieder’s effortless style, Grant Taylor’s power on transition, Heath Kirchart’s hammers and a closing part from Jake Johnson that many still rank among the all-time greats headline a team that also included Jason Dill, Anthony Van Engelen, Omar Salazar, Tyler Bledsoe, Mikey Taylor and Arto Saari.
It was also one of the last full-lengths before Alien Workshop’s troubled years in the 2010s, which makes it both a peak and a farewell for one of skateboarding’s most original companies.
