DC Shoes was founded in 1994 by Damon Way and Ken Block, who had already started the clothing brand Droors. Danny Way, Colin McKay and Rob Dyrdek were early pro riders, and the company borrowed heavily from basketball shoe design.
Thick, padded, technical shoes like the Lynx and Josh Kalis’s pro models defined DC’s late-90s and early-2000s run, and The DC Video in 2003 cemented it as one of the biggest names in skateboarding that decade.
