Powell Peralta’s follow-up to the Video Show came a year later and pushed the idea further. Stacy Peralta directed again, with sharper filming, better music and a bigger sense of fun.
The part most people remember is Tommy Guerrero bombing the hills of San Francisco, one of the first times street skating was shown as its own thing rather than a warm-up for pools and ramps. The rest of the Bones Brigade delivered too, with Tony Hawk, Steve Caballero, Mike McGill and Lance Mountain on vert and Rodney Mullen’s freestyle routines.
Future Primitive arrived as skateboarding was climbing out of its early-80s slump, and it helped carry the Bones Brigade to the peak of their fame. Looking back, Guerrero’s section plays like a preview of where skating was heading: out of the backyard and into the city.
