adidas was founded by Adolf Dassler in Herzogenaurach, Germany, and registered under that name in 1949. Its basketball and court shoes, above all the Superstar and the Campus, were skated for years before the company paid skaters to wear them.
adidas Skateboarding grew into a full program in the 2000s, building shoes around European football boots and a team that has included Dennis Busenitz, Mark Gonzales, Lucas Puig and Nakel Smith.
